How bizarre
Over Thanksgiving we took a trip up to Vancouver, BC. On the way there, we went through some pretty bizarre fog - sudden fog. It was clear, and then suddenly foggy, at times so thick we could barely see the car in front of us. Then, as suddenly as it came, it dissipated. We commented that that was bizarre. Once we got into Canada, we saw they had flashing green lights on their traffic lights! Now, we were familiar with flashing red, and even flashing yellow. We'd seen flashing green lights in Israel that warn you before the light changes, but this was a flashing green consistently in lieu of a solid green! We definitely thought that was bizarre. We think it means that there is no traffic light for the cross street, and to proceed with caution. If anyone knows for sure, please let us know via commenting in our blog. (Even if you don't know what it means, we love to get your comments in general!!) Throughout our trip we saw other "bizarre" billboards or store names in Canada that we don't have in the U.S. My memory fails me at the moment for specifics, but we nicknamed our trip "The Bizarre Trip." Anyway, we had a wonderful time. We went to Granville Island to see the "Kids' Market." They had a whole bunch of toy stores, kids' books shops, and a climbing "adventure zone." We went to a falafel place for lunch, and then we visited the JCC in the community and perused their book sale. After that, we headed to Science World, a really great science museum that had a huge section for kids. Sara Chana loved the play area, the musical keyboard that you could walk on, the shadow room, the dance room, which showed our moving silhouettes in different colors and styles (like a music video from the 80s), the water area, and a bunch more! We had a good time, too. :) There was also a dinosaur exhibit and an area with some "mind" challenging games/puzzles to figure out. Then, we headed over to Omnitsky's deli for dinner (what a treat!) and headed back home.
In other news, Sara Chana is doing great in school. She started learning about Chanukah, and she tells us all about latkes and Antiochus (the wicked king in the time of the events surrounding the miracle of Chanukah) on his elephant. We can tell her social skills are developing as well.
Temima Liba just turned four months old! At her check up she weighed in at 12 lbs, 3 oz, and was 24 inches tall! Baruch Hashem, she is growing very nicely. She can scoot on her back, rotate herself 360 degrees on the floor (on her back), and is starting to roll - although has not actually rolled over yet. We are working on tummy time as well, but she is not a big fan. She is making and imitating all sorts of sounds, and her wide open-mouth smile just melts our hearts.
Enjoy the pics!

According to Snopes:
a slow flashing green indicates a crosswalk (at least in British Columbia). A rapid flashing green indicates that the direction of travel has right of way. If you encounter a rapidly flashing green, you can turn in any direction legally.
Tell SCM she has a little over 13 years to get this down pat...
nice pics!
